Original Cabinet:
Atari Showcase
33" new Wells Gardner monitor
Project started May 2003

NFL Blitz 99 was removed from the cabinet.  The game was no good anyway, the Cleveland Browns were
left out of the '99 version.

This started as one ugly
control panel.

Proposed layout
includes a trackball,
trackball fire button,
spinner, ESC and pause
buttons, and coin and
start buttons for each
player.

I cut the 1/4" plexiglass
to the control panel top
and used a router to
curve the edges.  The
plexiglass still has it's
protective film on it.
Parts are just sitting on
top here for a general
layout.
Cut the plexiglass
and started to mount
the parts.

The project extras are beginning to
arrive.  Marquee, red illuminated
trackball(looks orange when not lit up),
30 illuminated buttons, ipac for 4
players, ultimarc videocard, and 1/4"
control panel plexiglass.

I printed the button labels from Microsoft Word, photocopied
them on to transparency film, then inserted them into the
illuminated push buttons.

This cabinet breaks into two as seen in the above picture.  The control panel counsole seperates from the monitor stand.  Unfortunatly even the base is too big to fit through a standard doorway.  I decided to cut the base off in the back since it's the least visible.  I used a circular saw to cut the exterrior and a "saws all" to cut the inner board.  I reattached the back base piece with 3/8" bolts 10" long
through 2x4 supports so the unit will be modular when I want to move it.

The paint job is a high gloss
black.

Assembling the
cabinet.  Need to
add speaker covers,
speakers, panel
covers & a built in
keyboard drawer.

Future Steps:
Blew up motherboard with static shock.
The control panel is wired and waiting the new mother board.
